Pardee Director Co-authors NSF Report on Environmental Research

AmericasFutureNSFcoverAnthony Janetos, Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, was an author of a recent report titled, “America’s Future: Environmental Research and Education for a Thriving Century,” published by the National Science Foundation Advisory Committee for Environmental Research and Education. Prof. Janetos also served on the 16-member committee, which is chaired by Prof. David Skole (Department of Forestry, Michigan State University).

In the report, the authors lay out a justification and a strategy for environmental research at the NSF for the next decade. The ten year outlook stresses the need to undertake the fundamental science that would enable society to begin designing solutions to environmental challenges and understanding potential futures.
