Global health is a highly inequitable field, with Global North individuals and institutions dominating every aspect. To reimagine global health and shift power to people and institutions on the margins and the periphery, everyone in global health must advocate for and activate two forces: leadership by the Global South and allyship by the Global North. In this talk, Madhukar Pai (Professor and Inaugural Chair, Department of Global & Public Health, School of Population and Global Health, McGill University) discussed several institutional barriers that prevent meaningful shifts in the distribution of power in global health.
