Keylor on Greater Boston Today: #IranDeal is Compromise
William Keylor, Professor of International Relations and History at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, said that the deal recently reached to limit nuclear capabilities in Iran in exchange for lifting economic sanctions was a compromise in the name of preventing the development of nuclear weapons.
Keylor made the argument in an August 2 interview on Greater Boston Today with radio anchor George Knight. It aired on radio stations WBOS, WBQT, WKLB, WROR, and WMJX.
“This is a deal that includes some pluses for the United States and its allies, but also some minuses, and the same is true of Iran,” Keylor said. “In any kind of negotiation or bargain, the two sides don’t get exactly what they want. Both sides have to compromise.”
Keylor and Knight also discussed the intrusiveness of the oversight paradigms as well as Secretary of State John Kerry’s negotiation tactics in the conversation.
Keylor served four consecutive terms as Chairman of the Department of History at Boston University (1988-2000) and been Director of the International History Institute since 1999. Learn more about him here.
