Corgan in Boston Herald: Beware the Lone Wolves
Michael Corgan, Associate Professor of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, said that so-called ‘lone wolf’ terrorists offer security challenges different than those operating in established terrorist groups.
Corgan made his case in an August 23 article in the Boston Herald entitled “Analysts Warn of Lone-Wolf Terror Attacks.” The article dissected the August 21 attempted train bombing in France.
From the text of the article:
Acts of terror in which the culprits have no direct ties to terrorist organizations — as appears to be the case in the thwarted attack on a train from Amsterdam to Paris on Friday — are becoming more commonplace both in America and abroad, and citizens need to stay alert, local security analysts say.
“It is something we have to look out for. One of the most difficult ones to follow is the ‘lone wolf,’ ” said Michael Corgan, associate professor of International Relations at Boston University’s Pardee School of Global Studies. “We have to be vigilant and we have to be aware of people who are behaving suspiciously.”
