Kevin Gallagher Promoted to Full Professor

The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University is proud to announce that the President and Provost of Boston University have approved the promotion to the rank of Full Professor of Kevin Gallagher. Prof. Gallagher will hold the position of Professor of Global Development Policy in the Boston University College of Arts and Sciences and in its Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies.

“I am delighted at Kevin Gallagher’s well-deserved promotion and welcome him to the ranks of our full professoriate,” said Adil Najam, Dean of the Pardee School. “He has been a highly prolific and productive scholar and has become an important public intellectual in the area of global development policy.”

“Kevin Gallagher embodies much of what we value most at the Pardee School. He is a prolific researcher whose work has had important impact in both scholarly and policy debates,” said William Grimes, Pardee School Associate Dean. “His research crosses the disciplinary borders between economics and politics, and shows a deep grasp of varied institutional and cultural contexts across countries. His interdisciplinary, problem-oriented approach to research is also reflected in his teaching and his role in creating the Pardee School’s MA program in Global Development Policy.”

Prof. Kevin Gallagher is also the co-director of the Global Economic Governance Initiative and the coordinator of the Pardee School’s Global Development Policy program.

“It is exhilarating to be named Professor of Global Development Policy at a school with a mission of advancing human progress,” Gallagher said. “I look forward to many full years of research, policy work, and teaching to this end!”

Gallagher is the author or co-author of six books, most recently  Ruling Capital: Emerging Markets and the Reregulation of Cross-Border FinanceHis next book, The China Triangle: Latin America’s China Boom and the Fate of the Washington Consensuswill be released in February 2016.
