Pardee School Faculty Participate in IEW
Several faculty members from the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University participated in a panel organized by Boston University Global Programs as part of International Education Week on the place and influence of walls in history.
The panel included William Keylor, Professor of International Relations and History, Igor Lukes, Professor of International Relations and History, and was moderated by Erik Goldstein, Professor of International Relations and History. Other panelists included Associate Professor of Classical Studies Zsuzsanna Varhelyi and College of General Studies Associate Professor of Social Science June Grasso.
Keylor’s discussion focused on the Maginot Line, a line of concrete fortifications that France constructed on the French side of its borders with Switzerland, Germany and Luxembourg during the 1930s. Lukes focused on the Berlin Wall. Varhelyi discussed Roman walls while Grasso focused on the Great Wall of China.

The Pardee School is hosting a Beyond the Headlines, or BtH, discussion as part of International Education Week on the global reaction to the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Panelists include Kheireddine Djamel Bekkai, Lecturer for Boston University World Languages and Literatures, Professor Emeritus of International Relations and Political Science at the Pardee School David Scott Palmer, Assistant Professor of International Relations and Political Science at the Pardee School Michael Woldemariam and Chair of the Division of Regional Studies at the Pardee School and Director of the Latin American Studies Program Adela Pineda.
