Michael Corgan, Associate Professor of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, published a recent Op-Ed discussing sanctions announced by President Barack Obama against Russia following accusations that the country attempted to affect the outcome of the 2016 United States presidential election.

Corgan’s Op-Ed, entitled Corgan: Parting Shot by Prez Sets Stage for Trump,” was published by The Boston Herald  on December 30, 2016.

From the text of the article:

It looks like President Obama, at long last, got his Russian groove. And contrary to expectations, it could be good news for Donald Trump.

Obama, still president for the next 23 days, has ousted Russian diplomats and imposed sanctions on Russia for butting into our elections.

What’s the point of sanctions now? Anything a president does by executive action can be just as quickly undone by the next president. And as President-elect Donald Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Secretary of State Kerry’s blast against Israel, Jan. 20 is coming. Putin was certainly listening to that.
