Goldstein Gives Lecture on Modern Philhellenism

Erik Goldstein, Professor of International Relations and History at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, delivered a lecture as part of the fourth annual lectures in modern Philhellenism hosted by the Consul General of Greece in Boston and the Boston University Philhellenes on March 27, 2017. 

The lectures, which mark the National Day of Greece, were attended by 200 people and explored the future of representative democratic governments in the countries that created, refined and then exported the most significant political achievement in human history.

Other speakers included Dr. Nicolas Prevelakis of the Harvard University Center for Hellenic Studies, Professor Loren J. Samons of Boston University and Professor Petros Vamvakas of Emmnauel College.

The event, which was followed by a reception, also included a sneak preview of the exhibition “Albert Meyer and the Photographs of the First Modern Olympics,” from the Benaki Museum in Athens.

The lectures were also sponsored by the Boston University Department of Classical Studies and the Boston University Core Curriculum.
