Pardee Students Join Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society

Students from the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies were welcomed into the Phi Beta Kappa, Epsilon of Massachusetts at Boston University honor society at a ceremony held on December 6, 2017.

Pardee School Professor of International Relations and History and President of Epsilon Massachusetts Erik Goldstein presided over the ceremony, and welcomed 12 students to the honor society including Jonathan Richard Hauser (International Relations and French Studies), Jocelyn Eileen Perry (International Relations), and Maria Clara Soares Bezerra (International Relations).

Goldstein highlighted the notable Phi Beta Kappa members that the initiates would be joining, including 39 United States Supreme Court justices, 17 United States presidents and 136 Nobel laureates.

Carrie Preston, Director of the Kilachand Honors College and an Associate Professor of English and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Boston University, addressed the initiates.

Houchang Chehabi, Professor of International Relations and History at the Pardee School, Vivien SchmidtProfessor of International Relations and Political Science at the Pardee School, Michael Woldemariam, Assistant Professor of International Relations and Political Science at the Pardee School,  Noora Lori, Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Pardee School, and Igor Lukes, Professor of International Relations and History at the Pardee School, are also Phi Beta Kappa members.
