Pardee School Hosts 2018 Alumni Weekend Panel
The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University was proud to participate in Boston University’s 2018 Alumni Weekend festivities, hosting alumni, current students, and friends of the school for a panel and reception at 121 Bay State Road on September 21, 2018.
The Pardee School’s Alumni Weekend panel, entitled “The World in Flux: A Changing World Order,” featured Pardee School faculty including Vivien Schmidt, Professor of International Relations and Political Science, Joshua Shifrinson, Assistant Professor of International Relations, and Manjari Chatterjee Miller, Associate Professor of International Relations. The discussion was moderated by Pardee School Dean Adil Najam.
The panel discussed a wide range of topics including the changing world order, the current state of liberal democracies, and the rise of populist leaders around the globe.
Members of the Pardee School Dean’s Advisory Board also attended the panel following the board’s fall meeting held at 121 Bay State Road earlier in the day.
Following the panel a reception was held for alumni and current Pardee School students which provided an opportunity for interaction across a wide variety of topics. Attendees discussed the benefits of a Pardee School education in the work force, as well as the importance of creating valuable professional connections.
The “World in Flux” panel, which has become an alumni weekend tradition at the Pardee School, in past years has focused on the current challenges facing democracy, the June 2016 Brexit referendum and the global shifts in an increasingly complex world.
