Karra Presents Study at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

Mahesh Karra, Assistant Professor of Global Development Policy at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, gave a September 26, 2018 talk at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Karra delivered a talk entitled “The Effect of a Postpartum IUD (PPIUD) Intervention on Counselling and Choice: Evidence from a Cluster-Randomized Stepped-Wedge Trial in Sri Lanka.” The talk was part of the school’s Willows Impact Evaluation Project Speaker Series.

Karra presented a study evaluating the effect of the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) and Sri Lankan College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists (SLCOG) postpartum IUD (PPIUD) intervention on PPIUD counselling and choice of PPIUD in six hospitals in Sri Lanka by means of a cluster-randomized stepped-wedge trial.

Karra’s academic and research interests are broadly in development economics, health economics, quantitative methods, and applied demography. His research utilizes experimental and non-experimental methods to investigate the relationships between population, health, and economic development in low- and middle-income countries.
