BUCSA Hosts Art of Light in Asia Diwali Celebration

The Center for the Study of Asia (BUCSA), an affiliated regional center of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, hosted a November 16, 2018 Diwali celebration entitled “The Art of Light in Asia.” The event was organized with ASIABU and Hindi-Urdu Program at Boston University.

The event featured delicious food, an incredible arrangement of paper lanterns and candles, and a variety of performances by Boston University groups that lasted throughout the evening.

Highlights included dances by Fatakada — Boston University’s premiere garba-raas team, songs by Hindi-Urdu Program, instrumental music and fashion show by Zhaohua Chinese Culture Club, demonstration and workshop by BU Kendo Association, and games.

The Center for the Study of Asia promotes comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and cross-national understanding of Asia through coordination of teaching missions, research support, community-building among faculty and students, and broad outreach beyond the university. It strives to be an intellectual hub for new ideas and cutting edge research in the humanities and social sciences.
