Karra Presents Research at Safe Motherhood Initiative in Malawi
Mahesh Karra, Assistant Professor of Global Development Policy at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, presented preliminary findings at a meeting of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Safe Motherhood Initiative in Lilongwe, Malawi.
The meeting was hosted by the Reproductive Health Directorate unit of the Malawi Ministry of Health. Karra presented preliminary findings from the three-year family planning field experiment that he had conducted in Malawi.
The title of the presentation that he gave was “The Causal Effect of Improved Access to Family Planning: Evidence from a Field Experiment in Urban Malawi.”
Karra’s academic and research interests are broadly in development economics, health economics, quantitative methods, and applied demography. His research utilizes experimental and non-experimental methods to investigate the relationships between population, health, and economic development in low- and middle-income countries.
