Heine Featured in Great Decisions Documentary

Ambassador Jorge Heine , Research Professor at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, is one of the leaders featured in the new documentary “Competing for Influence: China in Latin America” that is part of the Great Decisions in Foreign Policy series produced by the Foreign Policy Association and broadcast on various PBS stations.

The documentary investigates China’s new and growing interest in Latin America and the impacts of this new alignment, including on the prospects of direct competition with the United States. Prof. Heine, who has served as Chile’s Ambassador to China from 2014 to 2017, before joining the BU Pardee School, is featured discussing whether China’s economic investments in Latin America are ‘debt traps’ and the motivations of Latin American countries in pursuing economic diplomacy with China.
