Pardee Students Awarded for Academic Achievement
The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University is excited to honor the achievements of our talented students and alumni who were recently awarded scholarships and academic awards. International Relations majors Tima Dasouki (’22), Michael Eschmann (’21), and Farah Sonde (’22) have all been recognized with scholarships and awards through the BU Fellowships and Scholarships Office.
Tima was awarded the Boren Scholarship, which provides unique funding opportunities for undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad. She has also been awarded a Critical Language Scholarship and the Provost’s Scholar Award, which celebrates the achievements of students who have demonstrated their willingness in their first two years of college to, in short, demonstrate the spirit of a true scholar at a research university.
Michael was awarded a Harold Case Scholarship, which is offered to outstanding Boston University juniors for support of their senior year. Case Scholarships recognize scholarly accomplishment and potential as well as extra-curricular activities which contribute to BU. “I am graciously appreciative of this award and look forward to putting it towards continuing my academic career,” said Michael.
Farah was selected for the Provost’s Scholar Award as well. “I’m incredibly honored to have achieved the Provost’s Scholar Award, and I sincerely thank the advisors and friends that encouraged me to apply and had so much faith in my abilities,” said Farah of her award. “I look forward to blending my interests in radio and film with my passion for cultural and gender studies using the Provost funds.
Recent alumna Theresa Ginter (’20) received a Fulbright grant, which provides funding for individually designed research projects, graduate study abroad, or for English Teaching Assistantships (ETAs) abroad. Ginter is using her Fulbright grant to be an English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan. When asked for comment, Ginter said, “I am extremely grateful for this opportunity, and look forward to actively engaging with my students and broader community to further cross-cultural understanding.”
