Najam Discusses Israel-UAE Peace Deal on Hum News

Adil Najam, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was interviewed on Hum News where he discussed the recent peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in which the two countries promise to establish normal relations.

In his remarks, Najam commented on how this major development in the Persian Gulf will impact global politics. He stated that, following the deal, all indications are that other Middle Eastern countries may make similar agreements, which will put pressure on more hesitant countries to follow suit.

Najam also mentioned that this deal was strongly pushed by the White House – by Senior Advisor to the President Jared Kushner in particular – and we can expect that the Republicans will bring up the Israel-UAE deal in the 2020 election cycle as a major policy victory and a potential precursor to reduced U.S. military presence in the Middle East.
