Heine Keynotes Pacific Alliance Conference

On April 29, 2021, Ambassador Jorge Heine, Research Professor at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, delivered a virtual keynote address at semana de la alianza del pacífico, or Pacific Alliance Week.

The conference was held on the tenth anniversary of the Pacific Alliance (PA) and was sponsored by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Matias Romero Institute, Mexico’s Diplomatic Academy. In is remarks, Heine takes stock of the PA’s achievements over the past ten years, elaborates on what it needs to do to enhance ties with Asia, and makes some recommendations on the way forward.

Ambassador Jorge Heine is a Research Professor at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. He has served as ambassador of Chile to China (2014-2017), to India (2003-2007) and to South Africa (1994-1999), and as a Cabinet Minister in the Chilean Government.
