Shifrinson Promoted to Associate Professor

[Updated June 22, 2021] The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University would like to congratulate Joshua Shifrinson on his tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of International Relations. Professor Shifrinson’s promotion was approved by the President and Provost of Boston University.

When asked to comment on his promotion, Professor Shifrinson said the following:

I’m deeply honored to receive tenure. I never intended to be an academic, so receiving tenure at a school as prominent as BU – at a time when tenure standards are rising – is stupefying and exhilarating. Over the next few years, I’m going to use this opportunity to evaluate and critique the United States’ approach to international security, particularly as regards US-Chinese and US-Russian relations. And, of course, I’m eager to grow BU and the Pardee School’s presence in national security policy conversations, and connecting our students with career and research opportunities in this area.

“I congratulate Joshua Shifrinson for this well-deserved recognition of his scholarship and contribution to the Pardee School” said Adil Najam, Dean of the Pardee School.  “We wish him a career full of accolades, a life of achievement and purpose, and of course, a long and distinguished career carrying the Pardee flag high and proud.”

Shifrinson’s promotion was noted on the BU College of Arts and Sciences website and in a BU Today article.
