Shifrinson Comments on President Biden’s Foreign Policy

Joshua Shifrinson, Associate Professor of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was interviewed on SVT, or Swedish Public Television, on President Joe Biden’s foreign policy strategy.

The program explores how, despite President Biden’s posturing himself as all that he thought former President Donald Trump is not, he is increasingly compared to his enemy due to his foreign affairs strategy. According to Shifrinson, President Biden sees a world in flux, push back against post-Cold War democratic institutions, and as well as the complexities of the multifaceted issues that plague the world such as economic inequality and climate change. He went on to say that there is some consistency between Biden and Trump’s foreign policy strategy, namely focusing American attention on Asia over Europe as well as what foreign policy means to the American people.

The full segment can be viewed on SVT‘s website. Shifrinson’s remarks begin around the 26:00 mark.
