Garčević Comments on Montenegro’s Response to Ukraine Crisis

Ambassador Vesko Garčević, Professor of the Practice of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was quoted in a Balkan Insight article discussing Montenegro’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The article, titled “Montenegro Putting Restrictions on Russia on Hold, Activists Claim,” explains how the Montenegrin government joined the European Union sanctions on Russia but has so far only banned Russian flights into the country. Garčević, a former Ambassador to NATO for Montenegro, argued that the government should act swiftly in responding to the Ukraine crisis stating, “Any government hesitation creates the impression that Montenegro does not have an attitude when it comes to events in Ukraine and is avoiding responsibility.”
