Najam Comments on the Future of Philanthropy Among Pakistanis
Adil Najam, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was quoted in a Dawn article on Pakistan’s diaspora and philanthropic trends in this community.
The article, titled “The next generation of philanthropy,” explores generational giving trends among Pakistanis around the world and what may be influencing their philanthropic behavior. On this, Najam said “most people give to the poorest people in Pakistan where they can make the largest impact.” He goes on to say that the older diaspora tend to have direct connections to these people and give to them rather than donate through organizations; however, younger generations tend to favor institutional giving.

Adil Najam is a global public policy expert who also served as the Vice-Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. He is the Inaugural Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and was the former Vice-Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
