Heine Interviewed on Nancy Pelosi’s Controversial Taiwan Visit

In three recent interviews with Radio France Internationale (RFI), NTN24, and CNN Chile, Jorge Heine, Research Professor at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, discusses United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.

In his remarks, Heine argues that the U.S. reaffirming its “unconditional support” of Taiwan and shifting global attention on the island nation shows the degree to which the world finds itself in a Second Cold War. For more from his interview, visit RFI’s website.

In a similar interview with NTN24, a Spanish-language television channel based out of Washinton, D.C., Heine also discussed the implications of Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. In his comments, Heine elaborates on why the visit has stirred such a ruckus, on why it seems to defy the U.S. One China policy, and what it tells us about the growing U.S.-China tensions. The NTN24 interview can be viewed in its entirety on the channel’s website.

During his interview on CNN Chile‘s flagship world affairs show, Heine argues that apart from increasing U.S.-China tensions, Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan has also created quite a bit of uncertainty across the Asia Pacific region. That interview can be viewed on CNN Chile‘s website.
