Heine Discusses Active Non-Alignment in Latin America on HDI Podcast

In an appearance on the Hablemos de Derecho Internacional (Let’s talk about International Law) podcast, Jorge Heine, Research Professor at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, discusses active non-alignment for Latin America and his book on the topic.

In his remarks, Heine elaborates on the origins of the active non-alignment doctrine, the debate it has generated, and the degree to which Latin America’s profound crisis has given added urgency to its application. Heine and host Edgardo Sobenes discuss how Heine’s book addresses the conflict between the United States and China, the economic and technological aspects of the conflict, the role of Latin America, equidistance diplomacy, and the impact of the Ukraine War on non-alignment.
