Heine Discusses “Xi-Na in the Century of the Dragon” in Radio Interview

Jorge Heine, Research Professor at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, appeared on Chilean Radio Conquistador FM to discuss his latest book Xi-na en el siglo del dragón. Lo que todos deben saber sobre China (Xi-Na in the Century of the Dragon: What Everyone Should Know About China).

In the interview, Heine elaborates on the motivations behind writing the book in the first place and on the significance of China for Latin America in general and Chile in particular.

Heine’s book examines how, over the past forty years, China has burst onto the international stage with singular force, put its own stamp on a changing world, and set a new course in international relations. He places special emphasis on what has happened in the government of President Xi Jinping and what it means for the world. Heine’s work combines political analysis with first-hand observations and anecdotes from his experiences in China, a country where changes are so rapid that they have come to be described as belonging to a new genre: “ultra-realism.”
