Garčević Leads IEMS International Trade Workshop

Between October 17 and 24, 2022, Ambassador Vesko Garčević, Professor of the Practice of International Relations at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, led an International Trade Negotiation Seminar in cooperation with the Institute of Eastern Mediterranean Studies (IEMS) at the Emmanuel College.

As part of the workshop, 20 students took part in an international trade simulation led by Garčević, who has served as the IEMS Ambassador in Residence since 2018. Students were instructed on negotiation tactics, different perspectives to take into account, as well as general diplomatic demeanor.

The mission of IEMS, formally established in 2018, is to promote and support the study of the Eastern Mediterranean and neighboring regions by building on the liberal arts mission of Emmanuel College and leveraging the academic and innovative power of Boston. IEMS at Emmanuel College sponsors academic programs, research, and educational opportunities for students, scholars, policymakers, and practitioners in Boston and throughout the Eastern Mediterranean.
