Pardee to Host Critical Discussion on Sudan’s Humanitarian Crisis

The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies will host renowned human rights activist John Prendergast for an urgent discussion on the return of genocide and famine in Sudan. The event, titled “Beyond the Headlines: The Return of Genocide and Famine in Sudan,” will take place on Tuesday, October 29, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM EDT at Kilachand Honors College.

Prendergast, co-founder of The Sentry and the Enough Project, brings over three decades of experience working for peace in Africa. His extensive background includes roles with the Clinton White House, State Department, UNICEF, Human Rights Watch, and the International Crisis Group. As a New York Times bestselling author and investigative policy expert, Prendergast will examine the complex socio-political factors contributing to Sudan’s ongoing humanitarian crisis.

The discussion will be hosted by Dean Scott Taylor, whose expertise in African politics and political economy adds valuable context to this critical conversation.
