Goldstein Gives Two Lectures in London
Erik Goldstein, Professor of International Relations and History at the Boston University Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, gave two recent talks in London, England.
Goldstein gave a talk entitled “Inventing Shared Memories: Anglo-American Soft Diplomacy” to a full room on March 8, 2016 at Rothschilds for the International History Seminar.
On March 9, 2016, Goldstein delivered a talk entitled “The Alliance that Shaped the World: The Anglo-American Alliance,” at The Athenaeum, for the International Affairs and Diplomacy Seminar of the University of Buckingham.
Other speakers in the series for 2016 included Sir Malcolm Rifkind (former UK Foreign Secretary and Defence Secretary); Baroness Cathy Ashton, first High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy for the European Union; and Jung Chang, author of Wild Swans and other works on China.
Erik Goldstein served as chair of the IR Department for 12 years, from 1998 to 2010. His research interests include diplomacy, formulation of national diplomatic strategies, the origins and resolution of armed conflict, and negotiation. Goldstein is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (of Britain) and a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Global Change and Governance, Rutgers University, having previously served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for the Study of Diplomacy at the University of Leicester (UK).
