Sen. Dan Coats, DNI, Meets With Pardee School Students, Faculty
Senator Daniel Coats, the United States Director of National Intelligence, visited the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University on September 28-29, 2017 to meet with students and faculty.
The Director of National Intelligence (DNI) serves as the head of the U.S. Intelligence Community, overseeing and directing the implementation of the National Intelligence Program and acting as the principal advisor to the President, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council for intelligence matters related to national security.
Prior to serving as DNI, Sen. Coats served as a United States Senator from Indiana (1989-1999, 2011-2017), the United States Ambassador to Germany (2001-2005) and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1981-1989).
Sen. Coats met with a group of Pardee School students and talked to them about his role as the Director of National Intelligence, his time serving in Congress and the current security challenges facing the United States.
Later, the Sen. Coats discussed current security challenges facing the U.S. as part of the Policy Leaders @BUPardeeSchool series. The Policy Leaders @BUPardeeSchool brings senior international policy makers to Boston University for important policy conversations with faculty and students. Guests included faculty and experts from across Boston University.
