Weinstein Discusses USSF During BGH Forum Network Event
On October 1, 2020, Lt Gen Jack Weinstein, USAF (Ret), Professor of the Practice of International Security at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, participated in a GBH Forum Network/World Boston event exploring the importance of the space domain to United States national security and the evolution of the U.S. Space Force (USSF).
Weinstein was joined by Maj. Gen. William J. Liquori, Jr., Director of Strategic Requirements, Architectures and Analysis, Headquarters USSF, for the event titled “The Evolution Of The U.S. Space Force.”
Established on December 20, 2019, the USSF is a very new branch of the Armed Forces. The USSF organizes, trains, and equips space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force.
During the event, Weinstein and Liquori discussed how the USSF come to be, why it is of interest to the U.S. to have a Space Force, and what U.S. and allied interests the USSF is protecting in space.

Jack Weinstein, Lieutenant General, USAF (Ret), served in the U. S. Air Force from 1982 to 2018. Prior to arriving at the Pardee School of Global Studies, he was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters United States Air Force, the Pentagon. In this position, he was responsible to the Secretary and Chief of Staff on all aspects of nuclear deterrence operations providing direction, guidance, integration and advocacy regarding the nuclear deterrence mission of the U.S. Air Force and engaged with joint, interagency and NATO for nuclear enterprise solutions.
