Heine Interviewed on the Fall of Kabul to Taliban
Ambassador Jorge Heine, Research Professor at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, appeared on “Hablemos en off,” a program on Radio Duna in Santiago, Chile, to discuss the fall of Kabul to the Taliban this past weekend.
In his remarks, Heine highlights that the withdrawal of United States troops is supported by 70% of the population in the US, but what has been questioned is the way the withdrawal has been managed. He goes on to indicate that the long-term political fallout for the Biden administration from the messy withdrawal of Afghanistan is unlikely to be significant, but that the effects on the international system, and particularly in Central Asia, will be.
