Ambassador Jorge Heine, Research Professor at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, published an article in Mensaje – a monthly magazine published in Santiago – on Nobel laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

In the article, titled “El legado y liderazgo de Desmond Tutu (The Legacy and Leadership of Desmond Tutu),” Heine recounts his own experience meeting Tutu, discusses Tutu’s anti-apartheid work, and details the lessons that can be gleaned from his life. Heine met with Tutu quite a bit when he was Ambassador of Chile in South Africa in the nineties, during the presidency of Nelson Mandela. At the time, Tutu chaired South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), which was partly inspired by Chile’s experience with a commission of the same name.
