Launch of Studies in Comparative International Development’s Special Issue on Politics, Power and Inequality in Global Health

Founded in 1965, Studies in Comparative International Development (SCID) is one of the oldest and most celebrated interdisciplinary journals devoted to the study of international development. Recently, management of SCID transitioned from an editorial team based at Brown University to a new team at the University of Notre Dame, led by Dr. Tamara Kay, a Professor of Global Affairs and Sociology.

The journal’s first special issue – on Politics, Power and Inequality in Global Health – was released recently and featured eight agenda-setting articles from leading and emerging political scientists and sociologists from around the world, who explored such issues as universal health coverage, COVID-19 vaccine production capacity, disability policy, traditional medicine, hegemonic power and expertise, HIV/AIDS and abortion, health tourism and democracy and health.

On Friday, March 1, 12-1 PM EST, join us for an in-person seminar on the launch of SCID’s first special issue as well as remarks from SCID editors on the significance of the special issue in the history of the journal and the fields of political science and sociology more generally, as well as insights and contributions from the articles themselves.
