  • Starts: 4:00 pm on Monday, April 8, 2024
  • Ends: 6:00 pm on Monday, April 8, 2024
Many have termed this “the African Century” given the profound impact the continent’s demographic transitions are having on African peoples and the world at large. By 2050, an estimated 2.5 billion people, more than 25 percent of the world population, will live in Africa – a number on track to grow to 40 percent by the end of the century. This often overlooked region of the globe is home to diverse cultures, religions, and political traditions, as well as economic opportunity and challenge. At Boston University, scholarship and research related to Africa are on the rise, with the BU African Studies Center now celebrating its 70th anniversary and a growing, multidisciplinary portfolio of African research programs spanning the Charles River and Medical Campuses. In this Research on Tap, we will convene broad expertise across fields, campuses, and colleges to expand our knowledge of this strategically vital region and plant seeds for deeper collaboration.
