Next Steps Checklist for New BU Families

Attend an Admitted Student event
Join the Terrier Family Network!
Sign up for our virtual Parent & Family Orientation Know Before You Go sessions
Make sure your student completes the following tasks:
- Registers for Student Orientation
  - (Parents/Guardians, if you plan to visit Boston while your student attends Student Orientation consider reserving on-campus accommodations and attending a Campus Welcome Breakfast)
- Fills out the New Student Housing Application
- Selects a Dining Plan
- Registers for classes
  - Thursday, June 13, for new, incoming transfer students
  - Monday, June 17, for Class of 2028 students
- Reviews health requirements and uploads immunization records
- Reviews the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
  - If appropriate waive SHIP
- If applicable set up a meeting with Disability & Access Services
- Creates a Delegated Access account for your parents/guardians (optional)
Review tuition information, set up a payment plan, submit payment
Review the move-in dates and select one
If needed, make a hotel reservation for move-in via our hotel room blocks
See our packing list and check out the items that will be provided
Mail packages to coincide with student’s arrival on campus (mailing guidelines or ship items via The UPS Store)
Rent a MicroFridge® (check with roommate first, you don’t want two!) and/or an electronic safe
Purchase an MBTA pass if needed (not required)
Plan to attend the Matriculation Ceremony
Print parking pass for move-in weekend
Review check-in procedures with your student
Encourage your student to attend the Comm. Ave. Fest and our Weeks of Welcome events in September
Plan to attend our Fall Welcome events for BU parents/guardians
Watch (or re-watch) Know Before You Go videos
Remind your student to fill out the FitRec Waiver form
- This must be completed in order for your student to access the fitness center
Save the dates for Family & Friends Weekend!
- Book your hotel for Family Weekend
