1998: Works by Laurie Simmons
- Starts: 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 4, 2024
- Ends: 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024
This exhibition in Stone Gallery is presented by BU Art Galleries. "1998" is a selection of photographs by artist Laurie Simmons. The title, a playful title inspired by Taylor Swift's 1989 album, references work produced by Simmons in the year 1998 for an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art called Metro Pictures. These photographs revisit the miniature elements Simmons introduced in her seminal work of the late 1970s. These photographs are of dramatically lighted installation views of architectural models filled with furniture and occasional figures. Laurie Simmons is an American artist, photographer and filmmaker. Since the mid-1970s, Simmons has staged scenes for her camera with dolls, ventriloquist dummies, objects on legs, and people, to create photographs that reference domestic scenes.
1998, Works by Laurie Simmons is on view at Stone Gallery through December 7.
