House for the End of the World: Performance — Body as Site Workshop
- Starts: 1:00 pm on Friday, April 18, 2025
- Ends: 4:00 pm on Friday, April 18, 2025
Performance as a medium of contemporary art works with the body as a vehicle, an instrument. This workshop, led by performance artist Elana Katz, will question how the body can work as a tool and be considered as a site itself. Through the introduction of ice as a material, participants will investigate the boundaries of physical experience, navigating the space between pain and comfort. This active external experimentation with ice will be juxtaposed with the body as an internal site that maps memory, storage, and experience. The workshop will conclude with the possibility to participate in an interactive performance.
This workshop is part of a five-part series leading up to The Other One: Dependency, Distortion, Displacement, an interdisciplinary exhibition opening in Fall 2025 on BU's campus. The exhibition explores themes of technological reliance, urban development, and identity, featuring HEW artists Joshua Fineberg (Professor, Composition; Director, Center for New Music), performance artist Elana Katz, and AI and visual artist Dario Srbic, alongside contributions from CFA students.
