André Nachbin

Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA)

André Nachbin obtained a Ph.D. from the Courant Institute of Mathematics, New York University, in 1989. He is currently a full professor at the Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is an expert in wave propagation, with particular interest in surface waves and waves in coastal regions.

Prof. Nachbin represented IMPA in the international collaboration network of higher-education institutions from Latin America and Europe that was led by the PI, Prof. Barba, from 2006 to 2010, titled “Scientific Computing Advanced Training”. He has ample experience in organizing international workshops and scientific meetings, and is a member of the editorial board of SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics.
