Luis Salinas

Prof Luis Salinas obtained is Dr. rer. nat. (functional analysis) from Universitat des Saarlandes, Saarbrucken, Germany in 1976. His first degree is in Electronic Engineering (1971) from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM), in Valparaíso, Chile.

In August 1971, Prof Salinas joined the Electronics Engineering Department at UTFSM. In 1980, he joined the Mathematics Department as full professor, and in 1998 made his move to the Informatics Department, his current home.

Luis Salinas has been Visiting Professor in several universities including National University of Colombia, Medellín; UNAM, Mexico City; Wurzburg University, Germany. He has held a variety of teaching, research and administrative appointments at UTFSM. Currently, he is Director of the newly created Center for Technological Innovation in High Performance Computing of UTFSM, and Deputy Director of the Scientific and Technological Center of Valparaíso—both advanced research institutes located in Valparaíso.
