PDPA’s synchronous PhD Progression learning communities are offered as a supplement to the program’s asynchronous learning model. These communities are perfect for doctoral students who desire a more structured, hands-on approach to the standard PhD Progression content.

Career Development Learning Community

Wednesdays, 12:00 – 1:00 pm, weekly

Join your fellow PhD students for a four-week learning community aimed to support your work in the PhD Progression Career Development Pathways. The Career Development Pathway will help you to work through the essential steps in developing your awareness about the resources available to you and the steps to take to find the right career for you. Weekly sessions will be a combination of interactive workshops and reflective conversations that help you to grow your learning through the pathways. The objective of this community is to provide accountability, community building, and the opportunity to earn digital badges for your career development skills. Communication Skills Learning Community

Join your fellow PhD students for a six-week push through the PhD Progression Communication Skills Pathway. The Communications Skills Pathway will help you to learn about the basic principles and processes of effective communication in various forms. Sessions will be a combination of interactive workshops and reflective conversations that help you grow your learning through the pathway. The objective of this learning community is to provide accountability, community building, and the opportunity to earn digital badges for your communication skills.

Management & Leadership Learning Community

Join your fellow PhD students for a learning community aimed to support your work in the PhD Progression Management & Leadership Pathway (Level 1). The badges in this pathway will help you to work through the essential steps in building your leadership skills and your management capacity. Participation in this learning community will allow you to complete all 3 Introduction badges in the pathway, as well as the Conflict Management badge. Sessions will be a combination of interactive workshops and reflective conversations that help you to supplement your learning through the badges in the pathway.
