Emeritus Professor Stanley Rosen has Passed Away

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

I write with some sad news. Stanley Rosen died a couple of days ago. He had been ill for quite some time, but was living comfortably with his wife and near his daughter and her family. He joined our faculty in 1994, and had been an Emeritus Professor since his retirement. For those of us who knew him well, his death is a remarkable loss. He was an extraordinary person and thinker, and we will cherish his memory. I, for one, would certainly not have become the person I am—and, dare I say it, the philosopher I am—without having studied with him.

There may be a memorial service in the future. If so, I will let you know the details.

Sincerely,

David Roochnik
