Professor Paul Katsafanas, Grad Students, & Alumnus Presenting in North American Nietzsche Society Conference

The Department is pleased to share that Professor Paul Katsafanas, graduate students Joel Van Fossen and Caroline Wall, and alumnus Ian Dunkle will be presenting at the 2022 North American Nietzsche Society Conference in two weeks.

The Conference will be held on October 7th and October 8th, 2022, at Brown University. You can find the schedule and more information here.

On Friday, 10/7, alumnus Ian Dunkle (University of Southern Mississippi) will join a panel discussion on “Power”. In addition to co-organizing the Conference, Professor Katsafanas will be the Chair and Moderator for the presentation of “Psychological Reduction Arguments Against Pessimism: Nietzsche on Degeneration & Weltschmerz” by Patrick Hassan (Cardiff University).

On Saturday, 10/8, Caroline Wall will present “The Realm of Our Invention: On the Role of Thought,” with commentary provided by Melanie Shepherd (Misericordia University) and chaired/moderated by Jeremy Fortier (Claremont McKenna College.) Joel Van Fossen will then present “Love in the Deepest Sense,” a paper that won the NANS 2022 Graduate Student Prize, with commentary by Gabriel Zamosc (U Colorado, Denver) and chaired/moderated by Vasfi O. Ozen (College of Saint Mary).
