Janira Arocho
Originally from Cataño, Puerto Rico, Jarnia Arocho moved to Boston with her family when she was 14. Janira was driven to teaching in order to further the education of students who “struggle with access to high quality courses” while learning English as a second language. Janira now teaches courses in ESL, AP Biology, and her own elective course at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.
This summer, Janira worked with Daniel Lookadoo at StataDX to develop new diagnostic tests to support personalized therapeutic strategies for patients suffering from neurological conditions. She worked to develop an electrochemical-based microfluidic platform to address the need for easy-to-use, cost-effective remote monitoring tools in near-patient settings.
