MICHAEL TOWERS is the artistic director of Westford Academy Theater Arts (WATA), a thriving public high school theatre department in Westford, Mass. In conjunction with guest professionals from the Boston area, Michael produces and directs four mainstage and four black box productions each year showcasing the talents of his 150 theatre students. In 2008 and 2010, respectively, Michael’s productions of Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa and Arthur Kopit’s Chamber Music were named the Massachusetts High School Drama Guild’s State Finals Winner. In 2009, Michael earned his MFA in Playwriting from Boston University under the instruction of Richard Schotter, Melinda Lopez, Ronán Noone, and Kate Snodgrass. His full-length comedy Five Down One Across premiered at Boston Playwrights’ Theater in October 2010. His short play Loaves and Fishes appeared in Boston Theater Marathon XII.
