Unsolved Sexual Assaults on the Esplanade and surrounding areas
The Boston University Police wish to remind you of a series of unsolved but linked late-night/early morning sexual assaults targeting lone women that have occurred over the last five years at Joe Moakley Park in South Boston and along the Charles River Esplanade and surrounding areas. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office has released a general description of the suspect based on the collective reports of victims as a black male in his mid-20s to mid-30s standing 5’8” to 5’10” tall with a medium to large build and a bald head. In the following links you will find further information including a police sketch of a suspect from one of the incidents. You are reminded to beware of your surroundings and to not accept rides from strangers. You are also reminded not to allow yourself to be led into isolated areas or engage in conversations with strangers in isolated areas. Whenever possible you should not travel alone during late evening/early morning hours or should arrange for a ride from a trusted person. Please take advantage of the BU shuttle service when available and whenever you feel endangered immediately call 9-1-1, or, if on BU property, the BU Police at 617-353-2121.
