Sophomore Festival: Much Ado About Nothing

Boston University School of Theatre presents the 2025 Sophomore Festival: Much Ado About Nothing written by William Shakespeare and directed by Clay Hopper & Chris Edwards.

Witty banter, mistaken identities, and a whirlwind of romance collide in Shakespeare’s beloved comedy Much Ado About Nothing. When soldiers return from war, love blooms between Claudio and Hero—but a scheming villain threatens their happiness. Meanwhile, sparks fly between the sharp-tongued Beatrice and Benedick as their friends hatch a playful plan to bring the bickering duo together. Full of humor, intrigue, and unexpected twists, this lively tale proves that love and laughter truly conquer all.

The Sophomore Festival (Group C, Stanislavski System in Heightened Language Plays) offers students a curated and intentional casting experience that is faculty-led and tied to a class curriculum and pedagogy. It is intended to help students become familiar with the rehearsal process and the actor’s creative process/practice. Three plays would be chosen with performances occurring in Studio ONE with minimal production and design elements to introduce the students to a larger space at SOT and a repertory schedule.

Free tickets, general admission at the door.
