Alexander de la Paz is an Assistant Professor of International Security at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies. Before joining Boston University, he taught at the City University of New York and Columbia University. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University.

His research interests span the political and moral psychology of war, international law, and international ethics. His current research agenda concerns the problem of human shields in war.

He teaches a variety of courses in political science, including Introduction to International Relations, Laws of War, International Human Rights, and International Ethics.
