Vidhu Priya Mukundan is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science at Boston University. Her research seeks to understand the understudied gendered element of clientelism in urban democracies. Specifically, Vidhu’s research seeks to understand how women in urban India participate in claim-making and the role of women’s social networks in improving their interaction with the state in the urban context. With her work, Vidhu aims to better understand the social and structural barriers to women’s access to the state and how women mobilize in response to these barriers.
Vidhu holds an MA in International Affairs (specialization in Global Economic Affairs) from the BU Pardee School of Global Studies and an MSc in Political Economy of Development from SOAS University of London.
