Many students find opportunities to work part-time in Boston area preservation agencies, including:

  • The Boston Landmarks Commission
  • Massachusetts Historical Commission
  • The National Park Service
  • Private organizations such as the Northeast Office of the National Trust, the Boston Preservation Alliance, and Preservation Massachusetts

The Program Director may be able to assist students in placements of this kind.

MA in Preservation Studies Internship Award

Launched in 2024:  The Preservation Studies Program offers MA in Preservation Studies students a modest funding contribution to assist in undertaking the required MA internship. Students can receive a $500 award when meeting the conditions and eligibility. Students apply for the award during their semesters, as part of receiving approval for their internship.

MA in Preservation Studies Social Media & Website Student assistant opportunities:

Our MA program provides occasional opportunities to current students to assist in work on our social media content management, website development and news pages. Current students interested in such assistant opportunity, please submit a one-page cover letter to the Director of the program. Appointments run by semester and require between 5 to 10 hours/week availability. Applications by current students are reviewed on a rolling basis in advance of upcoming semesters.

Other graduate assistant opportunities for current students are occasionally available with the Preservation Studies Program.
