Actions Taken by the University Council During the Spring 2021 Semester

The Boston University Council held six meetings during the spring 2021 semester on January 26, February 23, March 23, April 20, May 11, and June 15. At these meetings, the Council voted to approve the following policies, also available on the University Council website:

The Council also voted during the spring 2021 semester to approve the following degree and certificate programs:

  • Master of Education in World Language Education (Wheelock)
  • Graduate Certificate in Foundations of Health Communication (MET)
  • Graduate Certificate in Health Care Promotion, Media & Marketing (MET)
  • Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Physics (CAS)
  • Bachelor of Science in Education & Human Development (Wheelock)
  • Bachelor of Science in Data Science (CDS)
  • Dual Master of Science in Genetic Counseling and Master of Public Health (SPH) – combining two existing programs
  • Graduate Certificate in Performing Arts Enterprise (MET) – expansion to include a fully online format
  • Graduate Certificate in Anglican/Episcopal Studies (STH)
  • Master of Arts in Gastronomy (MET) – name change from Master of Liberal Arts in Gastronomy
  • Master of Laws in Banking and Financial Law (LAW) – expansion to include a fully online format
  • Master of Arts in Leadership, Policy & Advocacy for Early Childhood Wellbeing (Wheelock)
  • Graduate Certificate in Education for Equity & Democracy (Wheelock)
  • Graduate Certificate in Community-Engaged Research & Evaluation (Wheelock)
  • Graduate Certificate in Applied Urban Analytics (MET)

President Brown has concurred with these actions, which officially brings them into effect.

Finally, following an evenly split vote by the Council, President Brown approved a recommendation by the dean of Sargent College to discontinue the MS in Athletic Training program.
