  • Ends: 9:00 pm on Tuesday, September 9, 2014
We're delighted to be kicking off the academic year with a screening of the Polish thriller Jack Strong (2014, 127 minutes, English). The film, directed by Wladyslaw Pasikowski (who also wrote the screenplay), tells the true story of Colonel Ryszard Kuklinski, a man who singlehandedly wages a battle against the Soviets from his position deep inside the system. Thanks to his determination, he begins working with the CIA, a risky and emotionally draining collaboration that will last many years. From now on, the lives of Kuklinski and his family are in danger, and one wrong move may have tragic consequences. The film will be introduced by Igor Lukes, Professor of International Relations and History, and followed by a discussion with Joseph Wippl, Professor of the Practice of International Relations and former CIA Officer. The screening is free and open to the public. Organized by the Center for the Study of Europe in collaboration with the Polish Cultural Foundation, Boston.
